what makes a great teaching ?

Throughout this course we have learned lots of strategies to make us great teachers in the future. I hope to take all of these strategies and use them in the future to help better my future students. my top 5 strategies are 3-2-1 Research Reports, Dos and Don'ts, word it out, black out poem, and 3-minute pause. I enjoyed each of these strategies for different reasons. I enjoyed learning and using these strategies to work through different readings and poems. The strategy 3-2-1 research is 3 things you found out, 2 interesting things you learned, and 1 question you still have. I like these strategies the most because it really gets you thinking about what you have read. It breaks down you're thinking as the number of things asked gets less the more complex the questions get. The strategy dos and don'ts included the dos and don’ts of a specific topic. The assignment we practiced this strategy with was very powerful. The dos and don’ts list made it easier it helped understand your position and you impact on a topic. The strategy word it out is a strategy that you type important things that stand out to you. I like this strategy because it is person to you and your own thinking. Specific words stood out for a reason. It a great strategy because it makes you look for important ideas and words that summarize the reading. The strategy Black-Out Poem was very similar to the worditout strategy. You pick certain words that stand out in a poem that make the poem important. You circle those words and black out every other word this was powerful and moving because it showed that your word you picked out were the most important that it could tell what the rest of the poem is all about. The last but not the very least of the favourites 3 Minute Pause this strategy included taking 3 minutes to self-reflect on a concept. How you connected with the concepts or how it made you feel. I enjoyed this strategy because it was a self-reflection, so I really had to think hard about my answer and find evidence to support my feelings. all of these strategy's helped me throughout this course and I often caught myself using them outside of the course as well. here are some links to better understand these strategy's and look back on.
